I am absolutely over the moon to have been awarded second place in Conway Hall's prestigious Clements Prize for Composers 2025! To hear my piece brought to life by Clíodna Shanahan and Simon Callaghan was already a wonderful takeaway from the afternoon but to have been recognised with a prize was the cherry on top!

Congratulations to my fellow finalists too. There were some really exciting and singular pieces - all with clear and distinctly unique voices and I do not envy the jury who had to decide in such a short space of time.

What is the Clements Prize for Composers?

Alfred J. Clements (1858-1938) was the organiser and secretary of the South Place Sunday Concerts (predecessor of Conway Hall Sunday Concerts) from their inception in 1887 until his death.  In the first half of the twentieth century the competition bearing his name encouraged the composition of new chamber works, establishing a tradition which set Conway Hall right at the centre of British contemporary music.

The 2025 competition calls for short works for piano duet, by composers aged 35 and under. Scores submitted for previous competitions from the Conway Hall Archive will also be available via the Conway Hall website and a selection exhibited before the final round performance.
